Ice Fishing
Ice covers our waterways in December and remains until early May. Ice on the larger lakes can exceed three feet in some years. Under the frozen ice and snow live large Lake Trout and Cusk. Lake Francis, First, Second, and Third Connecticut Lake offer great ice fishing from ice-in until the end of March. Live bait through the ice is most productive. NH has a statewide ice fishing tournament in February each year. Bob houses are allowed but must be off the ice before April. Fishing through the ice on a sunny, winter’s day can be a lot of fun.
Winter is a great time to be here!
