Pittsburg ANGELS Move Forward

The Pittsburg ANGELS will be signing a lease/option on a house on Main Street in Pittsburg. The Opening of ANGEL House is set for January 1, 2009 when alterations, painting and moving in have been completed. ANGEL House will be run by the Pittsburg ANGEL Charitable Services, a non-profit organization and will be staffed completely by Volunteers.

The Seniors Day Care Program will start Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Sue Lynch, Executive Angel will be in charge of the program. The program is designed to give respite care for the seniors care givers and any seniors that would like to join the program. There will be socialization programs; activities and a hot lunch and refreshments will be served. The program will run from 10 am to 2 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ms Lynch is also in charge of the ìTalking Book Programî; it is entirely free to registered users. There is no registration fee, no charge for books, no deposit or fee for use of the equipment, no charges for equipment repair, and no postage to pay. For those interested in this program call Sue Lynch at 538-6474 for an application.

The ANGEL Pantry and ANGEL Closet will be open at ANGEL House from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday 10 pm to 2 pm. Executive Angel, Bea Blais will run both the Pantry and the Closet. The ANGEL Pantry will be for emergency food only. The ANGEL Closet will have clean, gently used clothing for a small price. Some of the clothing offered will be free. In the case of an emergency there will be no charge for clothing.

Just after Thanksgiving the ANGELS will be starting their drive for Christmas. Included in the Christmas ANGELS Drive will be Toys for Tots and the donation of lap robes to the County Hospital. There will be donations tins and bins located around the area for donations to ANGEL House Christmas Drive. There is a need for yard and knitters to make more lap robes for the County Hospital. If you have donations of time or product please contact Lyn Chaffin at 538-6998. The ANGELS are over half way to their goal of seventy-five lap robes, so please help complete that goal.

The Pittsburg Angels Charitable Services will grow to fit the needs of our community. Grants are in process to help support the Angels’ various services and funding for a home base to work from. A networking system of talented Angels is now in place and growing.

We are looking for more volunteers to become Angels who will assist in providing services to our Community. If you would like to help, please contact one of the Executive Angels; Lyn Chaffin, Executive Director Angel 603-538-6998; Leslie Mikucki, Chief Executive Angel 603-538-6022; or Bea Blais, Executive Angel-P.A.C.T. 603-538-9520; Sue Lynch, Executive Angel-Advocate 603-538-6474 or email pittsburgangels@yahoo.com.
